Tiered rankings for Week 1 of the 2026 season, ordered so the biggest drop-offs are easy to spot.
Tiers communicate more than raw ranks. Two players ranked 14th and 16th may be interchangeable, while 16th and 17th may be a full tier apart.
Start by identifying which tier a player sits in. Players in the same tier are close enough that matchup and team context should decide the call.
Use implied team total, opponent rank against the position, and weather to separate players who rank next to each other.
The gaps between tiers show where value falls off. A steep drop after a tier usually signals a strong start or a worthwhile waiver add.

Rankings combine projected usage, defensive matchup quality, injury status, and expected game script. Players are grouped into tiers so that similar options are easy to compare in a single glance.
The tier structure is built to work across scoring formats. Pass-catching backs and high-target receivers rise in PPR, while touchdown-dependent players and early-down backs gain value in standard scoring.
Rankings are reviewed throughout the week and updated after each round of injury news, including the final inactive reports released roughly 90 minutes before kickoff.
